About BakeHouse Bread NM

BakeHouse Bread NM is a Las Cruces-based bakery specializing in authentic sourdough bread and
sourdough bagels.

Established in 2003 in New Jersey, we were inspired by the artisan bread bakers of California & Vermont. We built our first wood fired oven using plans from Alan Scott, an advocate of Artisan Bread Baking and Wood Fired ovens from California. He was such an encouragement to us and we are grateful that we got to know him before he passed. He inspired such bakers as Chad Robertson, of Tartine in CA, and Robert Hunt of Bohemian Bakery in VT.
 
We moved to Las Cruces in 2009 and built our second wood fired oven and sold at the Las Cruces Farmer's Market until 2018. After a break to tend to family needs, BakeHouse has resumed baking in 2025, firing up our wood-fired oven and getting back to making our long fermented sourdough bread and bagels products.
